What is Sage Food?
Sage Food is an Auckland-based plant-based food manufacturer in New Zealand. It makes vegan aioli, mayonnaise, dressings, burgers, vege meatballs and canapés under its own brand, and also manufactures food products for other brands as a contract manufacturer.
Where can I buy Sage Food products?
Sage Food products are stocked in Woolworths NZ, Foodstuffs North Island and South Island supermarkets, Farro, Moore Wilson's and boutique grocers across New Zealand. They are also available through foodservice distributors Bidfood and Service Foods, and online at sagefood.co.nz.
Is Sage Food vegan?
Sage Food's aioli, mayonnaise and salad dressings are 100% vegan. Its plant-based burgers, meatballs and canapés include both vegan and vegetarian options. All Sage Food products are plant-based and made in New Zealand.
What are Sage Food's plant-based burgers?
Sage Food's burgers aren't designed to imitate meat. They showcase wholefood ingredients and New Zealand growers, including Taranaki-grown quinoa and locally grown buckwheat. The burger range includes Mushroom & Quinoa, Kūmara & Buckwheat, and Spicy Crumbed Potato & Pea Bites.
Is Sage Food the same as Wise Boys?
Sage Food makes the vegan aioli, mayonnaise and sauce recipes first sold under the Wise Boys brand. The Wise Boys takeaway shops continue separately; the retail sauce and condiment range is now produced by Sage Food in Auckland.
Does Sage Food make products for other brands?
Yes. Sage Food is a New Zealand contract food manufacturer operating a registered, audited Auckland facility with a Food Control Plan registered with MPI. It produces food for other brands, including emulsion-based sauces, cooking sauces, hot sauces, salad dressings, burgers, cookies and chutneys, and can handle both small production runs and large batches.
